After months of tossing loose lunchboxes into a backpack, I decided to make a bag to keep everything upright and avoid spills. The idea was to recreate the classic paper bag, and i was inspired by these I saw on etsy.
As a material, I really love the honest aesthetic of unprimed canvas. The loose weave and the natural flecked surface looks raw and utilitarian, and the material creates nice shadows when it folds. It also irons well and sews beautifully, especially if you like frayed edges!
To make this, the paper template was cut out and drawn onto the fabric, before being machine sewn. The bag features a spare reinforced base, roll top, peg fastening, and carry handles.
With the spare fabric, I also made a simple makeup bag with a brass zip fastening.
