Painting inspiration

Watercolour inspiration - Annie Broughton - I like the mix of solid water colour blobs with detailing on top with fineliner. I also like her use of blank space and refined text , almost like scientific illustrations.

I have always liked the drone photography of Salty Wings over the coastlines of Australia. This could be something that translates well into watercolour prints or acrylic paintings on canvas, fineliner could pick out exact map outlines. I like that its inspired by wanderlust and balmy coastalines.

I have also seen a technique involving blobbing paint into different sections and dragging it across the canvas. I like the abstract effect which always looks great in interiors.

I like the combination of paintings and text. I'm thinking of developing a theme such as space, location, mood, aromatherapy or other facts. I once read a book called information is beautiful which is an inspiring way to display information.

A lot of the inspiration i have been enjoying is feminine and follows a similar romantic colour theme with flowing organic lines and classic fonts. I really like neutrals like ivory, inky grey, blush tones and black.

I am hoping to experiment with the following printmaking techniques: dipped string in ink to create dramatic lines in different thicknesses, dragging acrylic with corrugated cardboard, using twigs to draw lines and make splats.
